Just been reading an interesting article about autoimmune disease . It said that that these diseases (including vitiligo), were either TH1 or TH2 dominant. Vitiligo fell into the TH1 category . Their suggestion was that TH2 needs to be raised in these individuals to bring the immune system into balance and stop it from attacking the melanocytes. Certain supplements were touted that will raise TH2 , like curcumin and pine bark extract, whereas other supplements like grape seed extract were contraindicated as they raised TH1 , possibly worsening the imbalance......is this the answer ?.....anybody got any thoughts on this ?

I beg to differ. I do think the immune system plays an important role in NSV. In the case of my daughter, as soon as we started treating her for Hashimoto's (also an autoimmune disease), her vitiligo went into remission (and hopefully it stays like that).
For any reason, Hashimoto affects vitiligo (probably it makes melanocytes generate MIA => see: www.researchforvitiligo.com ). That's a very known correlation. Fighting Hashimoto does help vitiligo, what doesn't make vitiligo an autoimmune disease. It isn't as a matter of fact (see: www.vitiligomap.com ). I hope your daughter gets even better.
Thanks guys.....I will do some reading on hashimoto's and see if I have a 'lightbulb moment'.....lol. x

If you are talking about non-segmental vitiligo, please read it: www.researchforvitiligo.com
In NSV, the immune system does not play an important role.
