Hello Zoki,
I was diagnosed with Vitiligo back in May 2009. Here in Edmonton (Canada) the only thing that they prescribe for the problem are steroid based topics (unguents). I decided not to use them because of the side effects. I have been looking for natural medicines to fight the problem. I got Melagenina-Plus, Biopla (Multivitamins product) and Transfer Factor (Factor de Transferencia in Spanish) the later one is a thyroid gland and immune system leveler. I have been using these products since September and so far I have not seen any major changes (my doctor here discouraged me about the usage of these products). These products are manufactured in Cuba using human placenta as the main component. The cubans claim that they cure the Vitiligo; I will let you guys know about my journey with this approach.

How about using non-steriod topical ointments.....Ask your Derm and get the clarity.
My understanding is Protopic is not steriod based. In general, Derms will prescribe steriod based ointments for very acute cases, meaning, vitiligo is very severe. Plus, they are for very short duration, typically, 2 or 3 weeks. If you are diagnosed just in May 2009, there are very good chances that plain topical therapy should help, unless it is on the "Bone". vitiligo on bone takes loooooooonger. I strongly believe that, Vitiligo in the initial stages is very much reversible. I have seen atleast Two dozen pictures, plus we have self-experience as well. topical therapy has a safe history in several cases, I was told. In general, Derms don't even discuss any other therapy other than topical therapy for the first 2 years.
I dont have experience on natural medicine, hence unable to comment.
I was'nt aware of how much damage the seroid based oinment can do !!!......... The derm I saw adviced me to apply oinment for only two weeks then start using black seed oil which I think is harmless but I don't know much about...............its seems to be working but really slowly.
Thanks again !! Yeah ... it is worth a shot !! I heard it comes in capsules too !!
I read that - "Black Seed has a stabilizing effect on the Human Immune System which combats diseases that are a product of defective immune systems. So if the immune system is maintained, then the over all effect on the rest of the body can be felt".
